Here are my thoughts on what happened in sports yesterday (11/9/09):
  • Impressive stat-line by the Mavericks against the Raptors. It's not as if the Raptors are a defensive juggernaut (average of 104 points per game allowed so far), but anytime you hit 62% of your shots (20% more than the Raptors), you're going to drop a lot of points. The Mavs ended with 129 points. Also nice job by Juan Barea, for dishing out 12 assists (the Mavs had 32 TOTAL assists).
  • Favorite stat-line of Celtics-Nets game: 20 steals - 12 turnovers for the Celts. Tough match even against a depleted Nets team, and helped keep themselves in the game by having a great turnover ratio.
  • ANOTHER big day by Zach Collaros of Cincinnati to help the Bearcats stay perfect against Uconn, accounting for 555 yards of offense and 3 TDs (Cinci had a total of 651 rush/pass yards on offense). I've been following Collaros since I watched Cinci play USF a few weeks ago, when Tony Pike went down with an injury. I haven't been able to watch games of Collaros play, but if you told me that when Pike was healthy again, he wouldn't be starting anymore, I'd have laughed at you. Collaros played solid in that game as he assumed a larger role (outside of cleanup duty), but wasn't the spectacular monster he's been these past few games. Consider these stats he has boasted since starting: 66/82 (80% completion), 10 TDs (8 passing, 2 rush), 1027 Passing Yards (12.52 ypa), 149 Rushing Yards (on 33 attempts, 4.5 ypa). This guy is a BEAST.
